Victorian Messenger brass oil lamp with No.2 lever lift burner and Messenger marked collar
Burner has Rd. No. 104407 c1887 and is marked Messenger, black ceramic thumb wheels marked ‘Messenger No. 2 patent duplex’.
Has original agents label Carlisle & Watts, Dressing Case Makers of Edinborough (which still exist today) on the original green felt base – see photos.
Original Victorian etched ball glass shade, the shade does have 2 very small chips at top and numerous flea bites at base (which are not visible when sitting in shade holder), these flaws are reflected in the price of the lamp, please see photos.
New duplex chimney and wicks.

The Messenger is a very heavy lamp and weights 3.50 kg
Has natural patina but brass can be polished if required
Fully restored and burns well.
